Taste Unlimited - Virginia Beach

Thursday Morning: Picked up Scott from UMD and headed to Virginia Beach for a family vacation with the Imrichs. Now all of you with small children know how easy it is to leave in the morning without having breakfast. Well, all I had was a cup of coffee, but when I had the option of stopping half way and filling up on fast food or waiting it out and getting the ultimate satisfaction of wolfing down a sandwich from the Taste Unlimited, this mommy opted for the latter and grabbed another cup of coffee. And boy was the wait worth it!

Chicken Curry Sandwich, Route 11 Dill Pickle Chips, Fruit Salad, Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA

Sunday Afternoon: As the saying goes, betcha can't eat just one. After spending the morning playing with Morgan on the beach while the bigger boys took the kayak out crabbing, I was ready for another round of Taste delectables. What are in the bags? A Northender, Roastbeef with Provolone, Route 11 Chesapeake Crab and Deep River Rosemary and Olive Oil Chips, Coke, Sprite, and an Orangina. Those of you that know and love me may be wondering if all that food was just for me... but I shared with the rest of the gang.

Monday Morning: I stopped by one more time to take a couple of indoor shots of this "golden nugget" delicatessen. They have several house spreads (we love the horseradish cheddar).

They also have an incredible selection of several choices of chips, crackers, and refreshments.

And if you are really in a hurry they have plenty ready to "Grab and Go."

There are locations throughout Virginia, and if you are near one this is a stop you'll be glad you made.  FYI:

Moe's Famous Queso (Copycat Recipe)

After my dad retired from over 40 years of paper mill management, he did a short stint working at Moe's Southwest Grill before he and my mom moved down here to Maryland. After working a shift, he would often bring home Moe's famous queso and heat up their fresh tortilla chips in the microwave. I started craving Moe's queso, this unique white cheese dip packed an addicting heat that I had never had at any other Mexican restaurant. I started searching the web looking for the best copycat recipe and found the closest replica at  Seeded at the Table . I think it's right on the money! Whole Foods Cracklin' Cauliflower

Whole Foods opened up across the street from our neighborhood. Like, literally, across the street. It has been a long time coming and highly anticipated, so when they finally opened their doors, I went THREE times on the first day! The ever-changing salad bar is our bank account's downfall. Every day at noon it keeps calling my name, taunting me with quick, easy, and healthy options for lunch when I'm hangry.   I always get a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and a bigger receipt than I had hoped for. So, I decided that I would start making batches of these sides in my own kitchen so that I could enjoy them all week long without the guilt. You can purchase the Whole Foods Market Cookbook on Amazon! First up, one of my absolute favorites, the Indian inspired Cracklin' Cauliflower! It's so good that I recommend making at least a double batch! Download the Printer-Friendly Cracklin' Cauliflower Recipe Card

I'm Loving Lidl's Sauces and Marinades

Last Saturday we packed up and headed to our borrowed beach house for the summer.  Before heading out, I stocked up on a bunch of Lidl's Sauces and Marinades for quick and easy meals at the beach. Lidl has a great variety to choose from, and look at the prices!!! So far we have tried Ya Mon Jerk Style Marinade, To-Kill-A-Lime Sauce, Nashville Style Barbecue Sauce, and Bailando Habanero Mango Sauce. All have been bold and flavorful. Scott especially enjoys the Nashville Style Spicy Barbecue Sauce, which definitely has a kick to it.  On our first night I served up this grilled steak marinated in the To-Kill-A-Lime Sauce, with a refreshing Watermelon Cucumber Salad, and fresh grilled corn. So good!  The next night I used the Nashville Style Spicy Barbecue Sauce for BBQ Chicken.  This spicy BBQ chicken went great with grilled fingerling potatoes and a chilled Blackberry Goat Cheese Salad. The then I turned up the heat even more with the Bailando Habanero Mango Sauce. .  It reminds me
